New advertising campaign for Vegas I saw on Facebook this morning.

Interestingly enough, people have been living this for awhile now. I've known people that swear their friends to secrecy about how much they lost or won in Vegas.

Or ... some people keep it secret that they were in Vegas at all. This lady I used to work with flew down with her girlfriends and it was six months or so before her husband overhead someone that broke "the code". Boy did he ever get upset. Not long after that ... divorce.

Be Fair Sarkes

Are you one of the Northern Nevadans that got their The Price is Right cut off today? Ah, no!!!! I'll miss you Drew Carey and staff at TPIR.

I get my TV here in northern Nevada because I am a pay customer of DISH. A non-Nevadan company Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. that owns our local CBS station KTVN here in Reno wants a rate increase. KTVN would have me believe that it is just pennies a day and DISH should be giving in because they have "value".

Do they really think that I don't notice that I pay for DISH to provide me services. So, Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. and KTVN don't really want more money from DISH, they want more money from me and other DISH subscribers. DISH won't pay the 335% rate increase that Sarkes Tarzian, Inc. wants and I applaud them for it!

Realistically, if DISH did keep CBS and pass the cost on to me ... my bill wouldn't reflect 3 and a half-cents a day. It probably wouldn't even be a nickle a day more ($20) a year. We'd probably probably end up seeing much higher prices.

Even though it means no CBS for me as of today, I do not plan to swap over to DTV that gives into the demands of companies like Sarkes Tarzian, Inc and passes the higher rates on to their customers.

Actually, I used to have DTV and that is specifically why I have DISH now! But, that is another story that really isn't all that interesting. Service issues that bored even me. 

Anyway ... if you're in Reno, Sparks, or other northern Nevada towns and areas hurt by DISH dropping the local CBS channel you can go to befairsarkes.com and send email message to Sarkes Tarzian advertisers if you agree with me.

Zombie Elvis during the Zombie Crawl in Reno, Nevada

Last night (tonight depending on how hard you are trying) was the Zombie Crawl here in Reno, Nevada. I drove over to the Peppermill for a drawing with my mother and when we were on California Avenue by one of the participating bars, this fellow dressed up as an Elvis Zombie in a white jumpsuit crossed the street headed straight for us all zombified. My poor mother, having never heard of the Zombie Crawl kinda paniced. She locked the doors and stepped on the gas. She didn't find the whole situation so amusing as I did when I explained he wasn't insane. I bet the zombie Elvis sure got a kick out of her reaction.
